You can download the paper via: **Upon Publication** The explicative video is available at [[YouTube]](https://youtu.be/6YIkDhN4SaY) ## One-Sentence Summary Our work presents an ant-inspired Mushroom Body model on a compact, low-cost robotic platform, achieving continuous, efficient, and adaptable navigation in real-world environments with minimal computational resources. ![Insert a preview image here](antcar_and_ant.jpg) ## Abstract Solitary foraging ants excel at route following using minimal neural resources, Robots don't. Recent biological studies proposed lateralized, nest-centric memories to explain ants' direct visual homing but did not address how ants follow curved visual routes away from their nest. We present a biologically inspired neuromorphic model for one-shot panoramic route learning and continuous route following, implemented on a compact car-like robot, Antcar. We demonstrate that route-centric lateralized memories, inspired by the insect mushroom body, enable Antcar to achieve bi-directional route-following, with motivation-driven recognition of route extremities and familiarity-based velocity control. With rigorous Lyapunov-based stability analysis and an empirical memory scalability evaluation, the model was tested over 1.6 km across 113 challenging real-world trials. The system achieves less than 25 cm median lateral error using minimal resources (800-pixel input, 300 MB RAM, 500 mW power, and 18.75 kB memory per 50 m route), offering insights into insect cognition and advancing autonomous robotics under strict resource constraints. ## Project Setup and Environment Preparation Just run the run.sh file and it will run every code, it will put the results in results folder, you can see the figures generated in the results/figure folder. You will find the generated Jupyter notebooks as well and the mapping folders for different oscillations amplitude of learning. ## Citation If this work is helpful, please cite as: *** Upon Publication*** The code used in the AntCar robot for real-time learning and route following is available upon request. ## Acknowledgments G.G. was supported by a doctoral fellowship grant from Aix Marseille University and the French Ministry of Defense (AID - Agence Innovation D\'{e}fense, agreement \#A01D22020549 ARM/DGA /AID). For this, it references the friction coefficient-slip graph embedded in the ABS control unit. This method is insufficient to determine the friction coefficient suitable for real conditions on slippery surfaces where the peak is uncertain. In this study, machine learning methods such as SVM, MLP, SGD, GNB, and Extremely Randomized Trees that provide road surface type estimation regardless of road type have been developed in order to increase the braking performance of ABS by eliminating this deficiency. In this study, the compatibility between brake pressure and wheel acceleration change is taken as reference. For this, ABS tests are carried out at different speeds on both wet and slippery roads.
